Impact statement related to certifications
LISD Tech Center Law Enforcement and Corrections class hosted the parents of Curt Orlowski. Curt was one of two persons killed by an intoxicated driver in 2014 on US23. Students heard a powerful message about loss, grief, and forgiveness. In addition, students had the opportunity to utilize pedal cars and impaired driving simulation goggles to demonstrate the effect of intoxicating substances.

The LISD TECH Center Natural Resources team recently earned FIRST PLACE at the Envirothon competition for Region 6! Students learned from industry experts and then took a test on agriculture, aquatic macroinvertebrates, forestry, soils, wildlife, and more. This contest is organized by the Michigan Conservation Districts. Congratulations!

This past weekend, students from Accounting, Computer Programming, Graphic Design, and Marketing & Entrepreneurship teamed up to take on Junior Achievement’s CEO Challenge—and they did an amazing job! Congratulations to Kiara Hall and Sam Solis, who took 3rd place with their innovative app, Regather! TECH Center FFA Award Winners
LISD TECH Center Welding students, Miranda Jenks and Elijah Rupp, from Blissfield High School, volunteered their time to present at the Blissfield Elementary career fair. They educated the students about welding safety and career opportunities. The presentation included a basic explanation of welding, a display of their welding uniforms and safety gear (such as jackets, gloves, steel-toe boots, and helmets), a hands-on display of welded objects for the students to examine, and a discussion on the various industries where welders can work.
