Congratulations to our 2026 LISD TECH Center Distinguished Alumni, Lieutenant Kory Petterle and Matt Tomaszewski, and our Business Partner of the Year, Adrian (formerly Adrian Steel)!

Kory and Matt turned their experiences at the LISD TECH Center into successful careers and continue to give back to the programs that helped them get started.

Adrian has been a longtime partner, providing students with hands-on experiences, mentorship and opportunities to turn their skills into careers.

We're proud to recognize all three for the difference they continue to make for our students and community!

Their impact goes well beyond the classroom. Get to know the people and partnerships we're celebrating by reading their stories in the News section of our LISD TECH Center website.

LISD TECH TAKES ON TECH TREK!

Students from LISD TECH’s Computer Programming and Computer Information Services (CIS) programs hit the road for Ann Arbor Tech Trek!

Students had the opportunity to explore the world of technology firsthand, connect with professionals, visit innovative companies, and learn more about careers in IT, cybersecurity, programming, networking, AI, and other emerging technologies.

Experiences like Tech Trek give our students a chance to see how the skills they’re learning at LISD TECH connect to real careers and real opportunities!

A great day of learning, exploring, and seeing what the future of technology has to offer!

Growing up, Maddox Betz watched his dad head off to serve others. Now, he gets to work alongside him.

His time in the LISD TECH Center EMT program helped turn a lifelong connection to emergency services into a career he could begin shortly after high school.

Maddox Betz sits inside an ambulance at Adrian Township Fire Department. Text reads, “Seven Generations. His Turn.” Maddox grew up watching his dad serve in emergency services and now works alongside him as an EMT. He is the seventh generation of the Betz family to answer the call.
Last week, students from the Engineering, Design, & CAD program traveled to Detroit. They were able to visit the Ambassador Bridge and the newly opened Gordie Howe Bridge. Students were also able to go to Belle Isle. Students learned about civil engineering, bridge design, and human-environment interaction. There are so many career opportunities here in the State of Michigan!

For our students, September 11, 2001, is history. Today, our Law Enforcement & Corrections and EMT students heard that history through the personal experiences of Mario and Holly DiPippo, parents of one of our students, who were living in New York City that day. Holly was just two blocks away as the events unfolded.

Following their story, our Law Enforcement & Corrections students joined instructor Doug McMullen in a challenging workout honoring the lives lost and the first responders who answered the call.

There’s something pretty powerful about walking into a college class and realizing you’ve already built a foundation.

For Horticulture alum Lillian Helinski, the skills she gained at the LISD TECH Center followed her to college, giving her knowledge, confidence and a head start on what came next.

That’s what unlocking potential with credentials can look like.

Today, our Residential Construction students joined Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County to break ground on this year’s build. Together, they signed a board that will be used in the construction, putting their names on a project they’ll spend the school year helping bring to life.

It's hands-on learning with a purpose, and an experience these students get to be part of from the ground up.

LISD TECH Center Horticulture alum Lillian Helinski joined the program looking for something she needed at that point in her life. She found a skill, an industry credential, confidence and a career field she can see herself growing in.

Sometimes unlocking potential starts with giving a student the opportunity to discover what they’re capable of.

Meet and Greet Invitation
Fair week is one of our favorite times of the summer!

If you're heading out to the Lenawee County Fair this week, be sure to stop by the LISD booth and say hello. We'd also encourage you to wander through the barns and exhibit halls to cheer on the many local students showcasing their 4-H projects and animals. The time, care, and dedication they put into these projects is something to celebrate.

Here are a few photos from today, including some of the students we had the chance to run into and Kurt Kominek and Ben Murray representing the LISD at our fair booth. We hope to see you at the fair this week!

Sometimes the most important lessons happen outside of the lesson plan. When a power outage forced the cancellation of the final day of our Hammertime Career Exploration Camp, campers were unable to finish building their toolboxes. Rather than letting those projects go unfinished, instructors Mr. Biggs and Mr. Secord went above and beyond by coming in on their own time to complete each toolbox for the students. Their dedication ensured every camper could take home a finished project and a lasting reminder of what they accomplished this week. Thank you, Mr. Biggs and Mr. Secord, for your commitment to our students and for always going the extra mile. #LenaweeISD #LISD #CareerExplorationCamps #LenaweeEducation #SummerCamp
