Gold Hammer Award Feature

The LISD TECH Center Gold Hammer Award Banquet took place Wednesday evening, May 10th. The award, started in 1969, goes to the top student from 2 years in the TECH Center Programs Building Trades and Residential Construction. 4 student candidates are chosen by their peers within the Residential Construction program, and approved by their instructors. Then the candidates then go through an interview process with a 5-member advisory committee, who ultimately determine the winner.

 

The candidates for this year’s award were: Dakota Knieper (Addison), Randy McTaggart (Madison), Ariel Miller (Britton Deerfield) and Alex Pasley (Addison). The 2016-2017 winner of the Gold Hammer Award is Ariel Miller from Britton Deerfield. Ariel is the first female winner in the history of the award.
